Steeped in Passion: Meet the people behind Of Tea

Suling  - Founder, Of Tea

More than 15 years ago, middle schooler Suling took her first sip of Pu’er under her dad’s guidance. It tasted like nature itself—mountains, forests, earth, and wind—and it inked with her. Tea soon became a daily ritual for the family: a cup in the morning to awaken the stomach, and another after meals to aid digestion.

As Suling grew older, she became responsible for brewing tea for guests, using a simple pot called Piao Yi Bei, which wasn't a sophisticated practice.

When Suling came to the U.S. for college, her dad got her a travel tea set so she could still savor the magic brew in the cold northeastern region. It was her huge solace and her flavor of home. During her sophomore year summer, she returned home to learn the proper way of brewing tea —embracing the gestures, etiquette, and basic knowledge of tea. Tea had been an integral part of her life, one she hadn't felt the need to turn into a “college subject” until now, and she found herself intrigued.

Keer - Founder, Of Tea

Growing up in a family where tea was a daily ritual, I was immersed in the art of tea from childhood. By the time I was in elementary school, I had already learned how to brew Gongfu tea. My parents would drink different types of tea every day, and tea became an integral part of my upbringing.

However, it wasn’t until I became a mother that I truly understood the power of tea. I faced postpartum hormone imbalances and emotional challenges, but tea played a significant role in adjusting my hormones, easing my postpartum depression. As I made tea a regular part of my routine, I noticed improvements not only in my emotional balance but also in my journey toward weight management. When I hit a plateau in my fitness goals, it was when I began drinking tea intentionally that I saw real results. Tea helped me overcome that bottleneck and supported me in getting back on track with my fitness goals.

This personal connection to tea, along with a lifelong appreciation for its benefits, inspired me to create 'Of Tea' and I wanted to share the magic and balance that tea brings into everyday life, from mindfulness to well-being.
